Does St Gerard’s accept non-Catholics?

While St Gerard’s is a Catholic school we do accept students from other faith backgrounds. We have an enrolment structure which priorities existing families, Catholics in our parish, Catholics outside our parish and non-Catholics.  For more information see the Enrolment tab on this website.

 

What is the class structure of the school?

The 2024 class structure is Foundation/ Prep (1 class), 1/2 (2 classes), 3/4 (2 classes) and 5/6 (2 classes). Class sizes range from 15 -23 students.

 

What are the school hours?

8.45am – 3.30pm. 

This allows for 5 hours of learning, 2 eating/recess breaks of 40 minutes each and daily administration.

 

Is there before and after school (OSHC) care available?

Yes, Youth Leadership Victoria offers before and after school care on the same site as the school.

Before school hours – 6.45am – 8.45am

After school hours – 3.30pm – 6.30pm

 

What is the school fee structure?

Our school fees are comprised of a family fee, student requisites and excursion, swimming and computer levies.  These are combined and charged together.  There are no ongoing or additional costs throughout the year.

There are a range of payment options available.

Please note:  Families with a current Victorian Health Care Card are entitled to a discount.

 

Where do I purchase the school uniform?

A Plus Schoolwear is the supplier of our school uniform. Families order online and there is a weekly delivery to the school.  Orders can also be organised through the School Office.

 

What Specialist classes are taught?

In 2024 our students participate weekly in Italian, PE (Physical Education), Visual Art and Performing Arts.

Each of these lessons are 1 hour in duration.

 

How does the school communicate with families?

There is a weekly Newsletter which is sent to families each Friday via email, the Seesaw online platform and Operoo.

Seesaw is also the platform used for communication, the sharing of learning and providing class and year level information.

Operoo is used for permission notes and information.

The school also uses text messaging for specific information and reminders.

 

How can families be involved in the school?

St Gerard’s believes in working with families to enhance the learning of all our students. Families are most welcome to be involved in school activities.  There is an open invitation for families to attend our Monday Mediation at 8.45am and our Friday Assembly at 2.45pm, both of these weekly events are held in the Performing Arts Centre (PAC). 


We also welcome families to assist with other school and class activities such as sporting events, excursions and classroom activities. Please note that as part of our Child Safety Policies and Procedures all helpers/ volunteers require a Working With Children Check (WWCC) and need to attend a Volunteer Induction session.
